SecuTech 2007, which took place at the Taipei World
Trade Center on April 16th, proved to be the banner
event of the year delivering several new forums and
events at the 10th annual security exhibition. A&S
Group, the organizer was proud to celebrate its long
term achievement in the security industry with its spectacular
venue lined up for the grand opening, including traditional
aboriginal dancers and drummers.
With over 650 exhibitors and a showgrounds extending
beyond 24,000 sq. feet, the must see exhibition of the
year boasted a wide array of manufacturers from both
Asia and abroad that had visitors packing themselves
on the showground even to the very end.
As a prime source for launching new products, SecuTech
2007 also took time out to note major new markets in
the world with their first ever "Country Hours"
and "New Market" events, hosting guests from
Russia, India, Brazil and South East Asia. These conferences
allowed many buyers and investors to get a first hand
look at the market situations and to understand the
growing trends in each country and the important business
sectors to invest in. As the second floor was filled
with various conferences being conducted on the security
industry, major business transactions could be seen
taking place on and off the floor of the showgrounds.
Manufacturers and international buyers gathered at the
numerous exhibition booths to settle their final prices.
One of the main highlights at this show was the seventh
annual Global Digital Surveillance Forum, which gathered
industry players far and wide to participate in the
presentations covering the growing importance of IT
and security. Divided into four main tracks, several
topics were covered from important vertical markets
in intelligent surveillance to chipset and integrated
video solutions. Nothing was left behind. Major companies
like Seagate, Texas Instruments, Pelco, Honeywell, Verint,
Panasonic and Axis spoke at the events as well as newer
companies like Intellivision, ioimage, ObjectVideo,
Pixim and DVTel. Their overall ability to share their
vision of the future for the security industry proved
invaluable to the audience on hand.
There were more than 2000 kinds of electronic security
products that could be found on-site. New products were
also on display on the showgrounds with products like
DVR's introducing a hybrid of DVRs and CMS. With a central
management system that supports the dual codec DVR,
and a stronger ability to record high quality images,
this new product took a high place in the market. Additionally,
connectivity to 3G for streaming video content was demonstrated
to be able to connect mobile phones to network cameras
installed at home. This allows constant alert for homeowners
who are not always able to safeguard their homes by
gaining instant access through their mobile devices.
Simultaneously, the festive attitude and launch of
A&S International's 100th issue gathered a large
group of observers eager to share in the excitement.
With exhibitors like AVTech, GE Security, Tamron, and
HID, this expo was nothing short of international players.
The much awaited celebratory launch of the 100th issue's
supplemental book entitled, "Evolving with Passion,"
was also distributed throughout the exhibition from
an energetic and enthusiastic group of cheerleaders
on site. Covering the last 50 years in security history,
editors from A&S International tried to cover all
the major and relevant events resulting in one of the
most dynamic collections on security history ever!
Final Comparisons Organizer Parson Lee stated that "SecuTech
2007, truly is an international exhibition. There are
no others that can compare to us within Asia and our
ability to serve and provide the perfect platform for
security players to benefit from will always be our
goal. Amongst the top security exhibitions in the world,
SecuTech 2007 can definitely be classified as belonging
in the top three."
But you don't have to just listen to us, numerous international
visitors and buyers also had comments for our staff.
Juan Villaran Escardo, CEO, Grupo ST Electronic Security
Distributors and Consultants said that "Having
come to SecuTech in 2000, 2003, and now 2007 I can really
see the difference in the sense that there are no longer
many small booths. Perhaps this is because of market
consolidation but it is a good thing. There is more
efficient use of time and you are able to get access
to the ones who are actually able to deliver on what
they say they can do. It is much easier to concentrate
on talking to the real players."
Sergio Americano Mendes, co-owner, Sektronix, and co-owner
Laercio Cunha also mentioned that "SecuTech is
growing; it is the exhibition that is most focused on
the electronic-security business in the world. We have
been coming to Asia for the past ten years and SecuTech
is the only show that is made up almost entirely (90
percent) of electronic-security companies. It is the
best, most specialized show in Asia." He also went
on to comment that in comparing ISC West in Las Vegas
and IFSEC in Birmingham which are also specialized in
electronic security, "attending them is almost
a waste of time in the sense that everyone knows that
these products are all manufactured nearly without exception
in Asia."
Rudi Bouret Bayer, CEO Nitrix CFTV adds that "I
have been coming to SecuTech all 10 years, since the
very beginning. We are very satisfied with SecuTech.
The show has become much more professional over the
years and it is geared toward more professional users
of electronic security such as system integrators."
John Knapp, product line manager for Stanley Security
Solutions commented on the importance of attending SecuTech.
"I found products and partners without spending
two weeks going all over the place. The first real benefit
of the show is there are so many people in one place,
the other is new companies. I find those by just walking
the showgrounds and discovering products."
With such great success, and the continuous ability
to deliver the best and most dynamic collection of security
players from Asia, SecuTech is the perfect platform
for showcasing your security products and for finding
new buyers all in one location. Next year, SecuTech
will be held from April 16-18th, 2008 at the same site
with perhaps an ever larger showground. See you there!
